The Encounters suite of innovative materials includes:

  • A full-length, broadcast quality dramatic series consisting of 20 episodes filmed entirely on location in China. The dramatic story line follows eight main characters as they are swept along in the flow of their individual adventures. As their lives entwine in unexpected ways, these characters make discoveries about themselves and each other, about Chinese culture and customs, and about communicating with strangers as well as friends. Episodes progressively introduce more Chinese language as the story evolves and are linked with corresponding chapters in the textbooks, activities in the workbooks, and online materials.
