The Books

The Encounters program offers a range of materials, including student textbooks in full color, character writing workbooks, and richly annotated instructor's editions.
 
Written by leading Chinese language educators Cynthia Y. Ning and John S. Montanaro, the Encounters texts introduce an innovative, communicative-based approach for teaching Chinese that features numerous exercises, activities, and cultural notes.
 
All the texts and workbooks are fully integrated with the Encounters dramatic series and website and include extensive links to audio, video, and web-based instructional aids.
 
Instructors who prefer to use Encounters: The Movie as supplemental material in their courses can select the Teacher's Video Guide (a 200-page book that also includes a CD-ROM of the dramatic series).
